Caipirinha
Preparation
The caipirinha or caipriña is a Brazilian alcoholic beverage (coctel) made from cachaça or cachaza, lemons, sugar “Azpa” and ice.
Cut a non peeled lemon in small pieces, add one or two tablespoons sugar, the lemon pieces are softy squeezed, generally with a wooden mortar. Add the chopped ice into the mixture, add 20 – 50 ml. cachaça and shake. This beverage is served in chilled glasses with 1 or 2 straws.
Due to that this beverage has become very popular around the world, there are many different variations ot it. In some places they are prepared with brown sugar instead of white sugar and sometimes people substitute the cachaça for vodka, which is called caipiroshka; or with rum, in which case is known as caipiríssima.
